You, soul, most
beautiful of creatures,
who so long to know
the dwelling place
of your Beloved. . .
know that you yourself
are his tabernacle. .
his secret inner room
and hiding place.

 St. John of the Cross

St. Teresa of Avila, the foundress of the Discalced Carmelites, defines prayer as nothing else than a heart to heart conversation with One who we know loves us. Today many people are seeking intimacy and meaningful relationships, yet often look for them in all the wrong places. There is one, however, who loves us unconditionally and who is always waiting for us. . .God. This gift of divine intimacy is open to everyone who seeks God in sincerity. As Carmelite Nuns our entire life is channeled toward fostering this relationship. . . we live our lives hidden in Christ with God.

In Carmel this journey is not made by oneself alone; we are supported and nurtured at each step by our Sisters in community. Daily we bring before the face of God the needs of our world. Our life is focused on seeking God and helping to transform the world through the power of love.

This is our
vocation.
to stand before
the face of God.
