“However much contemplatives
are entrenched, so to speak,

in the heart of the world,

still more so are they

in the heart of the Church.

Their prayers, particularly

their participation in the

Eucharistic Sacrifice of Christ

and their liturgical recitation

 of theDivine Office,
constitute the fulfillment

of a function essential to the

ecclesial community, namely,

the glorification of God.

This in fact is the prayer

that renders to the Father,

through the Son

and in the Holy Spirit,

"a choice sacrifice of praise.”

Venite Seorsum III

The Eucharist is the center of our lives. Daily we are nourished at the table of the Lord and fed by the Word of God. We are united with the whole Church as we proclaim that

Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

The Liturgy of the Hours, or Divine Office, has been prayed by the Church for centuries. To realize that this prayer is being raised up to God throughout our world night and day without end in different languages and time zones is powerful.

From the rising of the sun to it setting,
praise the name of the Lord!
